Sizing a Water-Cooled Pad: Queen, King and Dual-Zone for Couples
By the Good Sleep team · 2026-10-22

TL;DR: match the pad to your mattress size, check the maximum mattress height, and if two of you sleep at different temperatures, get dual-zone. Good Sleep comes in Queen (60"×80") and King (76"×80"), fits mattresses up to 14" tall, and the King includes dual-zone.
01Measure first
- Width and length: Queen is typically 60"×80"; standard King 76"×80". California King and Full sizes are different, so check what the maker supports.
- Height: straps need to reach under the corners. Good Sleep fits mattresses up to 14 inches.
- Existing topper: the water pad usually goes on top, under the fitted sheet; thick toppers underneath can add heat back.
02Why dual-zone matters
The most common reason couples argue about the bedroom thermostat is that one person runs hot and the other cold. With dual-zone, each side gets its own setting. Good Sleep's own example is 62°F on one side and 74°F on the other.
| Setup | Best for |
|---|---|
| Queen, single zone | Solo sleepers, or couples who like the same temperature |
| King, dual-zone | Couples with different needs: hot flashes on one side, cold feet on the other |
03Hub placement
Put the hub at the bedside where the hose reaches without being stretched across a walkway. On a King, think about which side of the bed it'll sit on.
04Price by size
Good Sleep charges $1,479 for both Queen and King, so there's no premium for the larger, dual-zone King.
